Prayer

A few times when I've said a prayer for guidance within the hour someone has approached me and said, "Oh hey, Wayne Dyre's on tv." This happened a couple days ago, so I listened for a few minutes, and he was talking about living your life on purpose, and that really hit home for me. He also said something that stood out, "Don't die with your music still inside you." So, I'm extending those points of meditation to all of you. What does it mean to live your life on purpose? Probably something unique for everyone. For me it's about having intention and presence because we manifest from that space.

Blessings.

"What does it mean to live your life on purpose?"

Well, to take from Dyer's thing about the "music" inside of you, I think your purpose is literally whatever you're doing that makes you feel like singing (literally and metaphorically).

I think we all KNOW what we want to be doing, what moves us, what makes us feel passionate. The question is, do we act on it? But I think those things in life that we can never let go of, that we feel such passion for that we would go without sleep to keep doing, those things that we feel regardless of any outside influences, THAT is our purpose.

And, of Course (pun intended), the overall purpose to everything, is just to love!

French has so screwed up my spelling. "Dyre?" :) You look nice and fuzzy today, Matt. The whiskers were a nice touch.

Thanks. Do you like the green contacts? I think I need a shave. "Meow" ... whoops.

What kind of music do you think you have inside you?
          Ramones?
          Enya?
          :-)

Personally, I have a cross between Bach, Eminem, Laurie Anderson and Brian Eno. LA! LA! LA!

I got no music, only stories.

Music implies to me that one is IN the drama of life while stories require an act of rendering and detaching... which is why forgiveness is like hearing God tell you a new story. S-He sez: Relax, be at peace, the terrible thing never happened, the world is like a dream of love.

I think music is just another word for passion, or essence in this context.

                  Excellent point piper.

The word compassion means "with" or "besides of" passion. It denotes standing back an observing the passion, whether in oneself or in another.

So music is involvement in the passion of the musician, while storytelling is involvement more in the shared sympathy of the overall context. Prayer can be either music or story.

When I tell a story, I am aware that I am telling the story on behalf or as a steward for my audience, who silently "tell it alongside me" so to speak. I focus on voicing their unique and personal concerns WITHIN the collective vision, uniting the isolated individuality with the greater whole... this is the same moral act of uniting which good prayer does, and is offered by great literature too.
